ShimX is a local enhancer for Codex Desktop. It connects to the Codex page through Chrome DevTools Protocol and injects local enhancement scripts for provider switching, session import/export, Claude Bridge, user scripts, plugins, and logs.

Requirements

• Flutter desktop runtime. The app currently targets Dart SDK ^3.9.2.
• Windows or macOS.
• Codex Desktop installed locally.
• Windows launches the OpenAI.Codex* UWP package by default. macOS looks for /Applications/Codex.app.

Flow

1. Launch ShimX.
2. Check local proxy, MCP, Bridge, and Codex status on the home page.
3. Click inject. ShimX launches or attaches to Codex Desktop and enables the remote debugging port.
4. After injection, the Codex page gets the ShimX badge, control panel, logs panel, plugins panel, provider/model picker, and session actions.
5. Configure providers and enable the local proxy when you want ShimX to take over requests.
